Time indeed moves fast. It's almost unbelievable that in this issue we are celebrating a year since our inaugural electronic newsletter.

EmpowerDEX has just confirmed our BBBEE rating as a Level 3 - value adding enterprise, enabling you to claim 137.5% of your spend as Preferential Procurement!

After the recent ticket buying frenzy, there are less than 50 days to go before the kick-off of the biggest soccer spectacle. We have clear indications that South Africa is ready and excited to host the World Cup. We are preparing for peak periods during the tournament at the respective host cities around South Africa. As the details on road closures are finalised, our operations teams are revising their routing schedules to minimise the impact on delivery times.

Road congestion is a given, but in most cases games have been scheduled out of peak traffic times, so fans travelling to football matches shouldn't impact on regular deliveries. We'll keep daily updates on our website should there be any significant delays being experienced or disruptions anticipated.

The World Cup is an once-in-a-lifetime experience for our nation and we encourage you to blow your vuvuzelas in support of Bafana Bafana!

Enjoy the read as we mark yet another milestone in sharing with you our Crossroads stories.

Yona ke yona!

Sincerely,
Gerhard van der Horst, CEO

Skynet Worldwide Express is busy implementing a fleet refurbishment and a brand refresh exercise to bring it in line with the global Skynet brand which also features a new slogan - 'The partnership that delivers'.

True to our promise of 'The partnership that delivers' we have just completed a huge project for the Department of Education. The project was in three phases. The first phase involved the delivery of 600 000 workbooks to over 18 000 schools across South Africa, the workbooks were in all eleven official languages and had to be picked per language, per school, as well as the number of learners speaking that language at the school.

Crossroads Distribution Full Truckloads recently bought 10 new fuel tankers for the Desert Oil contract which involves daily deliveries totalling some six million litres of fuel monthly to service stations in the Northern Cape.

Desert Oil was recently appointed to be the branded marketer by Chevron for the Northern Cape.

The fleet comprises a mixture of semi trailer and rigid/draw bar tanker combinations which are ideally suited to retail sites with limited access. All the tankers are equipped with the latest specification safety equipment and are also fitted with temperature compensated petrol and diesel meters to accommodate retail site deliveries.

Crossroads Distribution is adopting the Dr Nelson R Mandela High School in Crossroads Township, near Philippi in the Western Cape. The aims are to help it with funding and to promote a learning culture in the school.

Like all new guardians, the main concern is to ensure that the children are kept safe in a secure environment.

In response to the call from the Ministry of Education, we will be helping them with renovating and painting the school, and installing stone guards with steel mesh for security purposes.

Situated in a poverty-stricken area with very high levels of unemployment, drug abuse, gangsterism and many other social ills, there is a high school drop-out rate, truancy, teen pregnancies and other anti-social behaviour patterns in evidence at the school.
